The Allgau to the east and Lake Constance to the south form the natural boundaries to Upper Swabia. Large differences in altitude within a relatively small geographic area are a particularly distinctive trait of the region: from 413m above sea level in the Schussen valley, to 773m and 883m at the peaks of Waldburg and Höchsten respectively, to 1118m at Adelegg, on the south-eastern border with Bavaria.

Lake Constance is visible from the estate with the snow-capped peaks of the Alps forming a majestic backdrop. Running through the lake itself are the borders separating Austria, Switzerland and Germany. The view from the estate runs from Austria’s Voralberg in the east to the spectacular Glarner Alps of Switzerland in the west. Along the way, in the Swiss canton of Saint Gallon, the Säntis rises proudly to 2502m above sea level – the highest mountain in the area.
